Thank you so much to everyone that came to my book signing on November 13 at the Los Angeles Japanese American National Museum (JANM). For those that weren’t able to make it I have pictures to share. Let me explain what happened so you can follow the pictures. See below for the link to the pictures.

The show started with lots of pictures from the book and others flashed on the screen with some songs from the American and Japanese oldies. Then Chris Komai, PR Director for the JANM welcomed everyone and introduced Paul Pfeifer, Marketing Director for Grace Lee International (GLI) and a good friend, who did a great job introducing me to the crowd.

The JANM’s title to the book signing was “Bridging Two Cultures”. They requested that I speak a little on international etiquette besides my book “Little Caterpillar in Training”. After some humorous stories of my experiences doing business in Japan I asked for volunteers to help me demonstrate some Western etiquette. You will see in the pictures two men and two women on stage and the audience got up from their seats to practice along.

Then Keiko Fukuda, a freelance writer for various Japanese media, came up to share her experience reading my book and meeting me for the first time for an interview she was doing for Discovery Nikkei. Her speech was very heartwarming.

After Keiko’s introduction, Chris Komai and I sat down for an interview style discussion of my book. We took some questions from the crowd. Then I introduced my mother to the audience and we adjourned for a reception for some tea and Japanese snacks.

The gathering you see in the picture is the teatime and book signing. I also brought the Japanese doll that I made for display since I mention the doll making in my book.

The elegant Japanese couple standing behind me is the new Japanese Consulate General of Los Angeles, Mr. Odagiri, and his wife. It was an honor for me to have them attend.

The show allowed me to meet new and old friends, some I hadn’t seen since high school, and receive the support of my Toastmaster friends. It was an exciting day and lots of new opportunities lay ahead because of this wonderful event.

Enjoy the pictures. Hope to get the video to share with you soon. Next workshop held end of February for adult workshop in and teen workshops in January. Reserve your spot.

My sincere appreciation to Nobuyuki Okada and Rose Jacobson for the wonderful pictures.

Thank you so much!
